OIT developing renewable energy internship program

Oregon Institute of Technology will use some of the green jobs training stimulus cash awarded to Oregon last month to build an internship program with Oregon's energy sector.

The $150,000 program will send electrical, mechanical and renewable energy engineering students to work in internships at companies including Portland General Electric, Vestas Americas, SolarWorld and others. The program is designed to beef of the resumes of graduating students with real work experience.

Oregon Workforce Investment Board, received an award of $5,383,568 in January. The resources will be used to implement the Greening of Oregon’s Workforce project to develop local networks that will deliver training in green occupations.
