Author talks up transparency for sustainable businesses
Vinit Allen was in Portland over the weekend to speak at the Energy Trust Better Living Show, the sustainability expert's first visit to Portland.
Speaking on businesses quest for sustainability leadership, the author of the Sustainable World Sourcebook touched on the impact that Wal-Mart has made by requiring its suppliers to embrace more green practices and talked about the need for a standard sustainability certification for businesses that would be uniform across all industries.
The bottom line for Allen, who espouses the triple bottom-line definition of sustainability, is, "the age of growth without limits is over."
