PDC launches green jobs program
The Portland Development Commission, the city’s economic development arm, has launched a program that will help small businesses create jobs. The program will focus on clean-technology, or green, jobs.
The Small Contractors Loan Insurance Program will help small businesses grow and obtain credit by partially insuring lines of credit offered to small businesses by banks and other private lenders.
The program is targeted at businesses specializing in energy efficiency and green development.
The program guarantees half of the credit lines offered by banks, up to $25,000 in the first year.
Albina Community Bank is the first lender to participate.
