Sustainable leaders list released

Pivotal Investments announced their list of future clean-technology leaders Tuesday, the result of a three-month search for executive talent undertaken by the venture capital firm along with a group of sponsors interested in building up a business ecosystem for clean energy and other sustainability-oriented businesses.

A sort of "most likely to succeed" for the clean-tech set, the 32 leaders were culled via an online voting process from 600 original nominations.

Gregg Semler, managing director at Pivotal Investments, drove the effort and said he was impressed by the volume of activity generated by the nomination and peer-selection process set up to recognize the leaders.

“I have been amazed by the willingness of so many people and institutions, including entrepreneurs, service providers, educators, government and the business community to get involved and participate,” Semler said in a statement.

The purpose of the exercise was to both recognize and nurture business talent to lead companies in the clean-tech sector — a term used by investors to refer to renewable energy and green technology companies.

The group will have the opportunity to network and receive mentoring from the sponsors through a series of events in Seattle and Portland. Sponsors include the law firm Perkins Coie, accounting firm Ernst & Young, the Portland Development Commission and the University of Oregon.

The honorees on the list are a mix of early-stage entrepreneurs, investors and senior executives who are already leading companies or organizations in the Pacific Northwest. The list is below and available via the program’s website.
