City of Portland mulls green sponsorships
Portland’s City Council is expected to consider granting a total of $40,000 to groups holding sustainability-related events.
The council will mull spending the sponsorship money with “commercial entities and nonprofits whose mission and audiences align” with Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. The agreements would give organizations between $250 and $3,000, with a $40,000 cap for the program during the entire year.
The bureau listed Coalition for a Livable Future, the City Repair Project and Cascadia Region Green Building Council as groups that could merit the city’s money.
The donations could cover sponsorships and attendance at events that such as energy fairs that promote environmentalism.
