Electric vehicles on display in Portland Saturday
A passel of electric vehicles will be on display in downtown Portland Saturday, including the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Navistar eStar truck, a Think City and an Arcimoto Pulse.
Portland General Electric is hosting the vehicles, and representatives from the manufacturers, at the World Trade Center Plaza from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. The vehicles will also be featured in the Rose Festival Starlight Parade Saturday evening.
PGE is heavily involved in the roll-out of electric vehicles in Oregon, partnering with vehicle manufacturers and Portland State University to plan the infrastructure necessary to keep the vehicles charged.
Mitsubishi announced last month it renewed a partnership with the state of Oregon to assist in building out charging stations. Also in May, Navistar launched its eStar line of trucks with an event at the Oregon Convention Center.
Norwegian car manufacturer Think had considered establishing a plant in Oregon, but ultimately chose to base its U.S. manufacturing operations in Indiana. Earlier this year it ranked Portland on its list of "EV-ready" cities.
Arcimoto, an Ashland company, has been active in lobbying for the state's nascent electric vehicle cluster. Its three-wheeled Pulse, base price $17,500, is available for pre-order.
