McKinstry to hire Kulongoski adviser Hamilton for Oregon operations

Nancy Hamilton, economic development adviser to Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and former chief of staff for ex-Portland Mayor Tom Potter, will join Seattle-based McKinstry, a building, energy and sustainability consulting company.

McKinstry plans to hire Hamilton in September to help run business development and external relations for McKinstry's Oregon operation. Her title will be Director of Business Development.

McKinstry, which has a LEED-Gold facility near Portland International Airport, has about 85 professional staff and employs approximately 100 union workers in Oregon. The Portland operation works on energy efficiency services, building design and other sectors.

"In the last few years I've become a geek-ish fanatic about the built environment and about water systems," Hamilton said. "I really wanted to work in that area."

Hamilton will leave the governor's office June 30 after two years in various policy adviser roles. Prior to being hired by Kulongoski, Hamilton spent two years as chief of staff for Potter after running his successful 2004 campaign for the job.
