The Oregon Solar Energy Industries Association, the state’s trade association for the solar industry, announced Tuesday that Glenn Montgomery will take over as executive director.
Montgomery, a former sustainability liaison for the Oregon economic development department and director of operations at the green building nonprofit Earth Advantage among other posts, fills the vacancy left by Desari Strader who resigned earlier this year.
“With the mix of challenges and opportunities our industry faces in Oregon right now, OSEIA needs a leader with a diverse set of capabilities and experience," said OSEIA Board Chair Andy Noel in a press release. “Glenn’s background and general character fit the bill perfectly as someone who can bolster our membership and actively engage in Oregon’s solar policy dialogue.”
The solar industry has been buffeted recently by uncertainty related to changes in Oregon's Business Energy Tax Credit and a new feed-in tarrif program set to launch next month.
“Our emerging solar industry is both ripe with opportunity and replete with challenges,” said Montgomery in a statement, “and I am hopeful that we can continue to lay a solid foundation upon which to build the ‘green economy’ and ensure long-term prosperity for Oregon businesses and communities.”
