Pervious concrete on display in Street of Dreams

Evolution Paving Resources said Tuesday that the company's new line of pervious concrete will be on display in the 2010 Portland Street of Dreams show, which opens July 29.

Salem-based Evolution Paving worked with regional government Metro to make use of eco-friendly pavement by laying down pervious concrete in the driveways of the Cresap Meadows development near Southwest Skyline Boulevard. The pavement allows water to drain through the concrete and into the soil, diminishing stormwater runoff โ€” which improves water quality.

Evolution Paving is fresh from earning a top-10 designation this month for green building products for its "Ultimate" line of concrete. The company has seen a surge in demand from environmentally friendly developers and cities, which are required to protect water quality.

"Pervious concrete provides invisible stormwater management. Rain flows directly through the pavement into a rock base under the concrete," said Scott Erickson, owner of Evolution Paving, in a news release.
