SolarWorld struts further into fashion

Clean-room manufacturing lines complete with bunny suits may not sound like high-fashion inspiration, but Seth Aaron Henderson, winner of the reality TV show "Project Runway," is busily designing his "SolarWorld Collection" to be presented at Portland Fashion Week Oct. 9.

It's the second fashion-related announcement from SolarWorld in as many months.

Last month, SolarWorld announced its "chic" new black solar panels would have a cameo as part of the catwalk for Portland Fashion Week.

The three-way partnership — between Portland Fashion Week, SolarWorld and Henderson — is themed with the title "Solar is the new black." Henderson will design his collection drawing on solar energy technology's "aesthetic possibilities," according to a press release.

SolarWorld, a German company, has its U.S. headquarters in Hillsboro where its solar manufacturing plant is staffing up to employ 1,000 people by September.
