A North American road trip to raise awareness for critical water issues such as pollution and scarcity stopped at the Xerox Corp. campus in Wilsonville Wednesday.

The "Expedition, Blue Legacy," led by Jacques Cousteau's granddaughter, Alexandra Cousteau, chose Xerox's solid ink printing technology as its official document printing technology because of the ink's sustainable qualities.

"Xerox's solid ink is a step in the right direction for greener, more sustainable printing," said Cousteau in a press release.

With its solid ink system, Xerox boasts cartridge-free printing, less waste and a smaller carbon footprint than traditional ink printing.

From Oregon, Blue Legacy will continue its trek in a biodiesel-powered bus, covering more than 14,500 miles and sharing facts about water resources — for example, that processing one pound of beef requires 1,799 gallons of water — from July to November.

Xerox has 1,600 employees in Wilsonville.
