Ecos, a Portland-based energy efficiency and sustainability consulting firm, announced Monday the hire of a former Duke Energy executive and the launch of its first office in North Carolina.
Ted Schultz joins Ecos as senior vice president of strategy and innovation and brings with him more than 25 years in the utility industry. Prior to joining Ecos, he led energy efficiency and smart grid strategy efforts for Duke Energy.
At Ecos, Schultz will lead a team to develop products and services for utilities.
Ecos was acquired last year by Advantage IQ, an energy management consulting firm based in Spokane, Wash., and owned by Avista Corp.
Ecos has offices throughout the west, but the new North Carolina office will bolster the company's East Coast presence.
