IdaTech LLC on Monday announced an expansion of its partnership with technology services firm Cascadiant to provide fuel cells in Indonesia.
Bend-based IdaTech and Cascadiant will provide 154 ElectraGen fuel cell systems on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Lombok. Cascadiant has offices throughout Asia and has already installed over 100 fuel cell systems across Indonesia for local wireless operators.
The IdaTech systems will provide backup power to telecommunications networks, which often lose power due to weather, natural disasters and poor grid quality. These outages can sometimes last for days.
In April, the partners announced a deal to ship 108 of IdaTech's backup power fuel cells to Indonesia.
IdaTech did $4.5 million in sales in 2009 and has deployed more fuel cells in India than anywhere else in the world.
