OIT among Best Colleges in western region
In its annual review of higher education, U.S. News Media Group has ranked Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in the No. 7 spot among Best Regional Colleges in the Western U.S.
OIT, with a main campus in Klamath Falls and satellite locations in Portland, is no stranger to accolades: In April, the U.S. Department of Energy awarded OIT's Renewable Energy Engineering program with a $2.5 million development grant.
The U.S. News "Best Colleges" report polls over 1,400 institutions nationwide. Along with the regional recognition, OIT garnered the #42 ranking on the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs" list. OIT has seen steady enrollment growth as of late, leading to a proposal to purchase the old InFocus headquarters facility in Wilsonville. The warehouse, valued at $20.6 million, would allow OIT to increase enrollment in the popular renewable energy engineering program, and expand research capabilities.
The full "Best Colleges" report is available online, and will be on newsstands in the September issue of U.S. News & World Report.
