InEnTec lands Wall Street Journal award

InEnTec LLC's waste-to-fuel technology got the nod from the Wall Street Journal's Technology Innovation Awards for 2010, receiving the top honors for the energy category.

Solexent, which in July announced plans to build a solar manufacturing plant in Gresham, was named a runner-up for the award.

Bend-based InEnTec was recognized for its waste gasification system, which the company calls the Plasma Enhanced Melter. The technology can transform most household, commercial and industrial wastes into a gas that can be used to produce electricity, make chemical products or be converted into a transportation fuel.

In March, InEnTech announced a joint venture with Waste Management Inc. called S4 Energy Solutions LLC. S4 is working on a renewable fuel project at the Columbia Ridge Landfill in Arlington, Ore.

Enphase Energy of Petaluma, Calif., and Idaho National Laboratory were also named runners-up for for WSJ's energy title.
