Brammo Inc. took the wraps off the 2011 model of its electronic motorcycle this week, touting a riding range that doubled from 40 miles to 80 miles on a single charge, thanks to an overhauled battery pack engineered by the Ashland-based company.
The 2011 Enertia Plus is listed at $8,995 and will be available sometime next year. Brammo will offer a $2,500 rebate for buyers who have purchased other bikes from the company.
"The Enertia Plus is basically the bike we know and love with twice the range," said Adrian Stewart, marketing director for Brammo. "So many people have commutes in the range of 50 to 60 miles. They're the ones we had in mind when we developed this bike."
The Enertia Plus, like other Brammo bikes, charges on a standard wall outlet.
The Enertia is Brammo's original model. In July, the company unveiled the juiced-up Empulse, the top model of which can reach speeds of 100 mph and travel with a range of 100 miles.
Brammo is taking preorders for both the Empulse and the Enertia Plus.
It's been a busy season for Brammo, which closed a $12 million investment and signed a manufacturing deal with electronics giant Flextronics in September.
Brammo's investors include Best Buy Venture and Best Buy stores sell Brammo bikes.
