Grape Solar announced Monday that it signed a supply agreement with Sungrow Canada Inc. for solar inverters.

Like Eugene-based Grape Solar, which leverages inexpensive solar energy parts from China that are assembled in North America, Sungrow Canada Inc. is a joint venture subsidiary of the largest solar inverter manufacturer based in China.

Under the agreement, Grape Solar will include Sungrow inverters in its residential and commercial solar kits, which include panels, inverters and racks. The residential kits are priced at $2.79 per watt; the commercial kits are priced at $2.69 per watt.

The agreement gives Grape Solar an advantage in the Canadian market. Grape announced in July it plans to start making solar panels in Ontario through a consortium to take advantage of the region's feed-in tariff program.
