Sedlar named New Seasons CEO

Lisa Sedlar, hired at New Seasons Market in 2005 as the heir apparent to market co-founder Brian Rohter, was promoted to CEO, the Portland-based supermarket chain announced Tuesday.

The company also announced that Rohter will step down from his position as chairman of the board in January.

Sedlar, a trained chef and 20-year veteran of the grocery industry, makes her leadership at New Seasons official with the CEO title.

The 10-store chain of markets is in growth mode, opening its newest store on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard earlier this year and developing a new store in Progress Ridge slated for a 2011 start date.

Founded by local entrepreneurs, New Seasons is known for its emphasis on organic and locally sourced food. The company does not disclose revenue. In 10 years, it has grown from one store employing 80 workers to a company with 1,800 employees.

New Seasons plans to select a replacement for Rohter in the board chair's seat next year.
