MotoCzysz announced a partnership with battery company Dow Kokam on its way to the Isle of Man for the TT zero race for 2011.
MotoCzysz has tapped Michigan-based battery technology firm Dow Kokam for lithium polymer batteries to power MotoCzysz electric motorcycles.
The strategic partnership announced Tuesday makes Dow Kokam the 2011 exclusive provider of battery systems for Portland-based MotoCzysz' racing motorcycles.
It was Dow Kokam batteries on the 2010 MotoCzysz motorcycle that made a splash last summer at the Isle of Man TT zero, a prestigious race for high-end electric motorcycles.
"By working closely with the Dow Kokam team, we were able to achieve our racing goals for 2010, and are excited by the technical advances we have made with Dow Kokam for 2011. These advancements will eventually be available to other motorsports teams and will help deliver that same advantaged performance to passenger vehicle electrification as well," said Michael Czysz, MotoCzysz CEO, in a press release.
The Dow Kokam partnership follows a strategic alliance with Segway Inc. announced in May and a partnership with Remy announced last summer to engineer a new electric drive system. The company is known for high-performance motorcycles but Czysz also has an eye on the wider electric vehicle industry. The company unveiled its 2011 line of electric drives, officially called the D1g1tal Dr1ve earlier this week, posting a video about the technology on its website.
