Brammo Inc. will produce a kit for electric motorcycle racing teams exclusive to the TTXGP.
Over the weekend, Brammo Inc. announced a partnership with TTXGP, the London-based company behind the eGranPrix motorcycle race.
Under the agreement, Ashland-based Brammo will develop a racing version of its six-speed Empulse, to be called the Empulse TTX, for exclusive use of teams racing in the TTXGP World Championship 2013.
Packaged with the kit will be entry fees and trackside technical assistance and other logistical support.
Teams racing the Empulse TTX in the TTXGP 2013 series will be eligible for cash prizes in each race in addition to performance-based scoring that will count toward an award of the Brammo Cup at the close of the series.
“This is about growing the grid and democratizing our series to make it accessible for new teams to join the next generation of motorsport,” said Azhar Hussain, CEO of TTXGP in a statement.
Brammo's Empulse had a good showing at the TTXGP race in Sonoma, Calif., in May, winning both races and setting a new lap record.
Earlier this month, the TTXGP had its debut at the Portland International Raceway after announcing they would add Portland to their 2011 tour.
Another Oregon company, MotoCzysz, won the TT Zero race in June. That race is held on the Isle of Man.
It's been a busy year for Brammo which is in the process of signing on dealerships for distribution of its electric motorcycles, after a partnership with Best Buy to get them to consumers fizzled.
Last month, Brammo started production in Europe of its Enertia and Enertia Plus electric motorcycles.
Last week, Brammo announced the hire of an experienced vehicle designer, Greg Stoermer.
