Research snapshot: Parsing the green vote
A study released by Scarborough Research last week found that “Super Greenies” — adults who engage in 10 or more green activities regularly — represent 11 percent of Portland’s adult population, putting the city third in the nation behind Seattle and San Francisco.
While the study showed Super Greenies are likely affluent — they’re 76 percent more likely to have an annual household income of $150,000 or more — it also found that they’re politically active. Environmentally conscious adults, for example, are 189 percent more likely to contribute to a political campaign.
And as the chart to the right shows, they’re also mostly Democrat. And those that aren’t lean closer to Democrats than Republicans.
