Conscious Commuter got some celebrity love over the weekend when actor Matthew Rhys — shown here giving another actor, Josh Bowman, a ride — took the folding e-bike for a spin on the "green carpet."

Conscious Commuter took a spin on the "green carpet" at the 20th annual Environmental Media Association Awards over the weekend.

The Portland-based electric bike startup asked Matthew Rhys, an actor in the ABC television show "Brothers & Sisters," to take a promotional spin on its distinctive two-wheel vehicle for the cameras.

And spin he did, said Bob Vander Woude, Conscious Commuter's CEO.

Vander Woude said Rhys waited until the cast of popular ABC show, "Revenge" was lined up for the cameras and then cruised up in front of them.

"He was basically a scene -stealer," said Vander Woude. "It was really just a great a event for us."

The Environmental Media Association honors television and movie productions that convey environmental messages in creative ways. Justin Timberlake also received an award for his leadership in green living.

Conscious Commuter raised just over $25,000 using the website Kickstarter and plans to build its fold-up e-bikes in Portland.

The video below captures Rhys' scene-stealing ride.
