Portland renews ecoroof incentives

Portland is taking applications for ecoroof incentive cash.
The City of Portland's Bureau of Environmental Services announced this week it will once again accept applications for ecoroof incentives of up to $5 per square foot.
The city will accept applications twice a year through 2013. The current deadline is Dec. 1, with the next cycle beginning in the spring.
Since the incentive program kicked off in 2008 as part of Portland's "Grey to Green" effort, the city has approved $2.4 million in incentives for 145 projects resulting in 11 acres of new ecoroof. The city reports that Portland has about 300 ecoroofs in all, covering about 15 acres.
The cost of installing an ecoroof, which adds both stormwater treatment ability and building insulation, ranges between $5 and $25 per square foot.
