Oregon Sate University is among the 16 greenest colleges as ranked by the Princeton Review and the U.S. Green Building Council.
• University of Portland made the list for the third year running for its focus on encouraging sustainable transportation choices and its LEED Platinum engineering building, among other factors.
The third-annual guide is put out by Princeton in partnership with the USGBC's Center for Green Schools, which was launched in 2010.
"College-bound students are increasingly interested in sustainability issues," said Robert Franek, senior vice president and publisher of The Princeton Review, in a press release. "Among 7,445 college applicants who participated in our 2012 'College Hopes & Worries Survey,' nearly 7 out of 10 (68 percent) told us that having information about a school’s commitment to the environment would influence their decision to apply to or attend the school."
