Honda Fit EV comes to Oregon in July

Honda announced Friday that its 2013 Honda Fit EV will be available for lease in Oregon and California starting July 20.
Honda will only lease the plug-in electric Fit for the first year it's on the market. The company selected Oregon and California as test markets and plans to expand availability to the East Coast next year.
The Fit EV's three-year lease price is $389 month, translating to a retail price tag of $36,625.
Based on Honda's popular hatchback Fit, the Fit EV boasts a 20 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery an estimated driving range of 82 miles.
The car's green features also include a sugar cane-based eco-friendly fabric covering the seats.
The Fit EV comes with a charger that can be plugged in to any 120-volt household plug, which gives a full charge in about 15 hours. A 240-volt charger lowers the full charge time to less than three hours. Honda has named Leviton its preferred charging equipment supplier.
An "EV Readiness Assessment" on the Honda Fit EV website helps drivers determine whether or not the car would be a appropriate by asked about home ownership and commute time.
The Honda Fit will join a number of other electric vehicles that are frequently spotted on Oregon roads including the Nissan Leaf and the Think City. Car manufacturers have warmed to Oregon as a testing ground for electric vehicles because of a strong commitment to the installation of charging infrastructure.
