Riders in the TTXGP eGrandPrix celebrated the close of the North America Round Two race Sunday at the Portland International Raceway.

The consensus on the track at the Portland International Raceway over the weekend was that the TTXGP eGrand Prix motorcycle race was not about the motorcycles at all.

Sure, Team Brammo took home the top trophy after the top-speed action on the track. Battery-powered engines were put to the test. Champagne corks were popped.

But from race organizer Azhar Hussain to Portland Mayor Sam Adams to the teams on the track much of the talk over the weekend had more to do with how advanced battery technology from racing bikes will be applied to more mainstream transportation products.

"There's always going to be a pull to commercialize whatever we're racing, that's why we race in the first place," said Brian Wismann, director of product development for Brammo Inc.
