Pacific Natural Foods of Tualatin has been committed to sustainable agriculture since it was founded in 1987.

The company established a program, "Certified to the Source," to enable consumers to trace every ingredient in the company's food back to its origins.

Chuck Eggert, company founder, took things a step further in 2000 when he purchased about 2,000 acres of farmland in the Willamette Valley and set out to showcase sustainable organic farming practices. Today these farms produce much of the produce for Pacific Food’s products.

Among Pacific Natural Foods properties are three organic dairies added in 2006.

Portland Business Journal Photographer Cathy Cheney visited the dairy operations late last month and was impressed by the high-tech practices. Click the image to view a slideshow about dairy operations.
