Brammo announced last year it would build two headquarters buildings in Ashland, (see rendering above) but this summer changed that strategy in favor of renovating a deserted Walmart in Talent.
Brammo Inc. scored an important zoning change and permit approval from the Talent City Council in Southern Oregon, moving the company further down the road to building a new headquarters and manufacturing facility near its current Ashland base.
The Medford Mail Tribune reports that Brammo, which makes electric motorcycles, will close the sale of a former Walmart store in Talent in the next 30 days after the zoning change goes into effect.
The headquarters expansion will result in Brammo adding 130 jobs in Southern Oregon and basing some if its manufacturing there. Brammo entered a contract to buy the Walmart building in July.
"Once we close we will make a few announcements about everything that is going on, but we will try to move as quickly as we can now that we know the zoning was approved," Craig Bramscher, Brammo's founder and CEO, told the Mail Tribune.
Brammo announced in September it will open a research and development facility in the Portland area, looking to take advantage of the cluster of electric vehicle talent that's based in the region.
