Gunderson's second 'habitat' ecoroof was unveiled in July.

Portland band Rags + Ribbons added some rock-and-roll glitz to a Portland ecoroof, releasing this fall a video shot at Gunderson LLC.

When Gunderson first unveiled its greenroof project in 2011, it was a first for Portland: An industrial-district ecoroof with an emphasis on habitat creation for bugs and birds. The expanded ecoroof project, which features 30 different types of plants, debuted last summer.

The juxtaposition of an industrial firm and a lush green rooftop plays a starring roll in the video of Rags + Ribbons single "Moving on," complete with glowing root balls and nighttime rooftop views.

As the Portland Mercury's Ned Lannamann put it when the video launched in September, "This video should do for ecoroofs what "Thriller" did for dancing zombies."

The City of Portland touted the video in a newsletter this week, alongside the announcement that the city's ecoroof incentive, which provides up to $5 per square foot of an ecoroof project, is again open for applications. The city supports ecoroof development as a means toward better stormwater management and has a goal of 43 acres of new ecoroofs in place by the end of next year.

As for the band, Rags + RIbbons encourages its fans to to "protect the environment and check out ecoroofs." View the video below:
