Wendy Collie will take over as New Seasons Market's president and CEO on Jan. 2.
New Seasons Market announced Monday the hire of Wendy Collie and president and CEO of the company starting just after the first of the year.
In Collie, New Seasons is hiring a seasoned consumer brands executive — but not one steeped in the grocery industry.
A Portland resident, Collie was most recently president of consumer business for early childhood industry leader Knowledge Universe. Prior to that job she worked for Starbucks Coffee Company for close to 18 years working in a number of management positions in the U.S. and abroad including a stint as general manager for Seattle's Best Coffee and Starbucks U.S.
Stan Amy, board chair and New Seasons co-founder cited Collie's operational expertise in a statement saying,"Wendy is a well known visionary who has built a reputation and track record as a leader who invests in people, culture development, customer service, operational excellence and strategic growth."
Collie takes the helm at a time of brisk growth at New Seasons which will soon open its 13th store in the region and last month announced plans to open a central kitchen facility in Portland's Eastside Industrial District.
Collie fills the desk vacated last month by Lisa Sedlar, who left New Seasons to start her own chain of healthy convenience stores.
