Lisa Sedlar's third Green Zebra location will augment the up-and-coming Southeast Division and 50th area in Portland.
Portland’s incoming “healthy convenient” grocer has announced that its third location will open on Southeast Division Street.
Green Zebra Grocery will open at 4926 S.E. Division St., near the A’La Carts Food Pavilion at the intersection of Southeast 50th Avenue, in mid-2014. The grocer, started by former New Seasons CEO Lisa Sedlar, had announced earlier this year it would open at locations in the Woodstock neighborhood in Southeast Portland and North Portland’s Kenton neighborhood.
The Richmond/Mt. Tabor site is owned by A’La Carts Food Pavilion LLC and has a market value of $737,310. The property’s owners paid $170,000 for it in 1986.
“Our neighborhood has been growing immensely these last few years and the demand for fresh, healthy food has been growing with it,” said Linda Gramlich, Green Zebra’s Division Street landlord, in a release. “We know that Green Zebra Grocery will be a welcome addition to our thriving community and neighborhood. The residents in this neighborhood are such an active and engaged community and we look forward to helping meet their needs.”
Green Zebra’s small stores will sell fresh, local and healthy wares and feature produce sections, deli counters and butchers.
“In the three months since we’ve announced our plans for Green Zebra Grocery, we’ve received an enormous amount interest and support from neighbors and the community,” Sedlar said in a release. “We believe the Richmond/Mt Tabor neighborhood is ripe for our healthy, convenient store model that supports the 20 Minute Neighborhood. We offer eaters the opportunity to shop for all of their needs within a short bike ride or walk from their home.”
The company has yet to announce the opening dates of its Woodstock and Kenton stores.
