The Oregon League of Conservation Voters so-called "Ecoprom" last Friday landed the lobbying group more good will from its supporters along with a boatload of freshly raised funds.
The event, which is actually called OLCV’s Annual Celebration for the Environment, generated close to $190,000. OLCV will use the haul to back pro-conservation candidates and lobby for its pro-environment priorities.
More than 1,000 people attended the event, at the Oregon Convention Center. U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley was among the speakers.
Derek Staab of Bend was named the organization's 2012 Katy Daily Volunteer of the Year.
