When Portland Business Journal Research Director Tam Jenkins approached me a few weeks ago with some data she’d collected on LEED architecture, I had two immediate thoughts.
The first: Pictures! All these firms must have pictures of their work! And, being a bit of a visual person, I really wanted to see how exactly their green-design expertise plays out in the real world.
The second thought: I wonder who has the most LEED architects or other such workers?
The answer, Ankrom Moisan Architects, surprised me. I figured either ZGF or Sera, our two largest architecture firms overall, were a lock for the top slot.
We decided to take a look at the area’s largest LEED architecture firms, as ranked by the number of LEED AP workers on staff, along with a representative project. The efforts we collected are extraordinary, with such projects as the Matthew Knight Arena, the White Stag Building and the Mercy Corps structure standing out.
