Glumac's Portland office in the Standard Insurance building on Southwest Fifth Avenue will soon have the only open-air retrofit windows downtown, part of an extensive remodel of the company's new space.

"We're walking the talk here," said Glumac principal Rem Wilson, adding the company's former Portland office — a LEED Silver retrofit in an older, Second Avenue building — had been a sticking point with clients. "We wanted to show that we could take and retrofit a space to a LEED Platinum goal."
The sustainable engineering firm's space on the 16th floor of the old Standard building is indeed LEED Platinum certified, and has invited gawkers since the first curiosity seekers began poking their heads out of the elevator about a year and a half ago. The building has been substantially complete since then, but will get its finishing touch — the open air windows — in the next two months.
