After serving on The Climate Trust’s board since 2008, Sean Penrith will become the group's executive director.
A board member of Portland's The Climate Trust is stepping into the group's executive director role.
Sean Penrith will lead the organization that works on climate change issues. Penrith, the former Earth Advantage executive director, had served on The Climate Trust's board since 2008.
He's taking the place of Ben Vitale, who left the group in January. Penrith left Earth Advantage around the same time.
“The Climate Trust Board looks forward to working with Mr. Penrith in this new capacity and supporting him in the implementation of his powerful vision for the organization,” said Laura Beane, the board's chair and director of Iberdrola Renewables' regional market structure and policy department, in a release. "We have complete confidence in our selection of Mr. Penrith as the most qualified person to lead the organization during this time of transformation."
At Earth Advantage Institute, Penrith helped develop voluntary carbon markets and ecosystem services, as well as standards for greentech, energy efficiency, sustainability, and national labeling and disclosure standards for the built environment.
“I have been pleased to witness the Trust’s accomplishments over the past three years as we have evolved into more than just a manager of compliance offsets for regulated utilities,” Penrith said.
