Nike Inc., NASA and two other agencies have narrowed a list of groups from which it will choose sustainable material supplier partners.
Nike, NASA, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State are looking to find innovations in sustainable materials that would create fabrics and other items with the minimum carbon footprint possible.
The local companies to make the grade so far include CRAILAR Technologies, which makes natural fiber with flax, hemp and other bast fibers. The fibers are used for textile, industrial, energy, medical and composite material applications.
