While the Bicycle Transportation Alliance's Bike Commute Challenge may be wheeling toward an end, the state's bike makers continue to crank out the pedaling goods.
An array of creative — and decidedly independent — bicycle makers has made their stamp on Portland's riding culture. The roster includes Renovo, which makes wooden bicycles, cyclo-cross specialist Breadwinner, "truck trike" maker Stites and frame welding and fabrication aces Zen Bicycling Fabrication.
There are also sleek and functional offerings by such outfits as L'Ecu, Vertigo, Signal, Metrofiets, Ahearne, Kinn, Kesho and Lucky 13.
In honor of the month's various celebrations of all things bike-related, we've, with the help of the bikemakers themselves, assembled a collection (you can click through on the photo above to get started) of some of Portland's finest cycle creators. Did we leave anyone out? Let us know so we can add them to the mix.
