It's always nice to catch a gander of sustainable business types earning recognition among their commercial peers.

That's why we at the SBO desk were outright thrilled to find that at least 20 percent of this year's Portland Business Journal 40 under 40 class have ties to our little corner of the operation.


40 Under 40: Meet 9 honorees with a foot — or two — in sustainable business


It's a great representation in an overall very solid group. If you've not scored your tickets, you can do so by clicking right here. This year's event takes place Feb. 13 at downtown Portland's The Nines Hotel.

A quick note on the photos: Our theme this year is "Top 40" (get it? Top 40? 40 Under 40? Our events czar Jan Block came up with it, I think it's ingenius), and we're going with an all-out musical theme. Wait until you see the cover of our special publication. Anyway, we asked our 2014 class to pose with a variety of instruments and they all, gamely, did.
