2-megawatt solar project planned for NM (Albuquerque)

Public Service Co. of New Mexico plans to build a 2-megawatt solar photovoltaic generating plant on land it owns just south of the Reeves Generating Station in Albuquerque.

If built, the solar plant would include 30,000 ground-mounted solar panels on about 16 acres near Paseo del Norte, just north of Journal Center. It would produce more than 80 times the power that PNM’s 25-kilowatt solar PV facility in Algodones currently produces. That’s enough power to supply about 640 average-sized New Mexico homes, which would make it the largest solar facility to date in Albuquerque, said PNM President and CEO Pat Vincent-Collawn in a news release.
