Carbon capture company raises $10M (St. Louis)

Akermin Inc. said Tuesday it raised $10 million in its Series B financing round and will use the new funds to develop and bring to market its carbon-capture system for power plants. The technology behind the system came out of St. Louis University.

The equity round was led by the Malaysian Life Sciences Capital Fund and co-managed by Burrill & Co., with participation from Emerson Ventures, a subsidiary of Emerson, the largest St. Louis-based public company with $20.9 billion in sales in 2009.
