eSolar inks massive solar deal in China
eSolar, a Pasadena-based solar startup, announced plans Monday to build a series of solar thermal plants in China. The newly inked contract calls for 3-year-old eSolar to build plants โ which use mirrors and lenses to concentrate sun rays to power a steam turbine โ with at least 2,000 megawatts of capacity during the next 10 years. Groundbreaking of the first 92 megawatts, which will be built in northern China at the Yulin Alternative Energy Park, will take place this year.
