Geothermal site withdrawn from BLM auction (Denver)

A 799-acre parcel of federal land in Colorado that’s slated for geothermal development will not be offered as planned in a scheduled lease auction on Feb. 11, the Bureau of Land Management’s Colorado state office said Thursday.

The tract is near Buena Vista and Mount Princeton Hot Springs.

The BLM lease sales allow industry access to federally owned lands. The 799-acre parcel is to be the first to be offered by BLM specifically for geothermal power development in Colorado. Typically, the BLM’s lease auctions offer parcels intended for oil and gas development.
