CES shows its greener side
The Consumer Electronics Show is a overwhelming amalgamation of electricity-sucking games, gadgets and appliances, but even CES has grown greener in recent years with pavilions devoted to energy monitoring technologies and brands of all stripes promoting their environmental chops.
An array of energy-management gadgets took center stage at the show this year with features such as alerts to warn customer when they're maxing out their utility budget to sleek, smart thermostats that react to peak-time energy pricing with money-saving moves. Of course, there were also the innovations that edged toward the realm of the gimmick, for example: LED light bulbs that double as audio speakers.
