Kleiner Perkins invests in Fisker (Silicon Valley)

Fisker Automotive, maker of the "Karma" electric automobile which boasts built-in solar panels and a 300-mile range, hauled in $115.3 million to move the company closer to the production line.

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers participated in the round along with A123 Systems, which recently sealed partnership with Fisker to supply batteries for the Karma. Hong Kong-based Ace Investments also invested in Fisker.

Fisker is taking pre-orders for the Karma with a $5,000 deposit. $25,000 for the convertible model.
