AES joint venture buys biogas firm (Washington, D.C.)
An AES Corp. joint venture created to reduce greenhouse gases has bought a Canadian company that specializes in creating renewable energy.
Greenhouse Gas Services LLC, an Arlington firm started by AES (NYSE: AES) and GE Energy Financial Services, bought Toronto-based StormFisher Biogas for an undisclosed sum. The purchase adds renewable energy to the portfolio of Greenhouse Gas Services, which invests in projects that lower greenhouse gases and sells credits associated with those projects to businesses who must meet lower greenhouse-gas targets or want to offset their own greenhouse gas emissions.
