Compas Group signs on for sustainable shrimp (Charlotte)

Compass Group USA says it will adopt sustainable standards for buying imported farm-raised shrimp.

The food-service giant, which has its North American headquarters in Charlotte, says it’s the first time a major food company has implemented such purchasing requirements, which include third-party audits.

Compass’ agreement with Foodbuy, its purchasing company, and Contessa Premium Foods has been endorsed by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program.
