EPA ruling boosts corn-based fuels
The Environmental Protection Agency handed a victory to ethanol producers Wednesday by issuing a final regulation that conclude corn-based fuels will meet greenhouse gas standards imposed under a 2007 energy law.
The alternative fuels debate about whether or not corn-based ethanol met greenhouse gas emissions standards. The ethanol lobby argued that without including corn-based fuels in its Renewable Fuel Standard definition they would be forced out of the market.
