GE renewable energy HQ bests growth target (Albany)
General Electric Co.'s Global Renewable Energy headquarters in Schenectady has exceeded its employment goal by one-third—a year ahead of schedule.
More than 650 people work at the new headquarters building, which is located in a former warehouse on GE’s downtown campus. GE initially planned to create 500 new jobs by 2011.
The headquarters opened less than a year ago; it employs mostly scientists, engineers, technicians and support staff with average salaries of $75,000 a year.
