Higher ed getting more energy efficient (Boston)

Building owners of all types are looking for ways to cut energy costs, but for the Boston area’s colleges and universities there is often much more at stake.

In addition to shrinking endowments and increased scrutiny of operational budgets, college presidents and administrators are contending with personal commitments to sustainability and addressing climate change as well as an applicant pool focused on environmental stewardship.

With those trends in mind, a former Massachusetts energy technology official has formed an energy efficiency services company focused exclusively on higher education.
