Museum plans alternative energy plant (Tampa Bay)
The Museum of Science & Industry plans to build an 11-acre alternative energy plant to educate visitors and provide electricity for the Fowler Avenue facility.
MOSI is putting out two requests for qualifications on Feb. 22 to companies interested in building plants that use solar, wind, biomass (also called wood gasification), hydrogen and algae to create 20 megawatts of electricity an hour.
One RFQ is for the wood gasification center that will provide about 15 megawatts an hour. Another is for the other alternative sources.
